The Sooner, The Better

If you’ve had sex without using contraception, or think your contraception hasn’t worked, you can use emergency contraception to help prevent pregnancy. Use it as soon as possible after sex to have the best chance of working. You can calculate your risk of falling pregnant.

  1. Copper Coil – this small, flexible device is put into your uterus (womb) and is the most effective form of emergency contraception. To arrange this, please call us on 01273 523 388
  2. Emergency Contraceptive Pill – this can be taken up to 5 days after unprotected sex but ideally as soon as possible. It may also be available for free from your GP, walk-in centre or some pharmacies.
