Brighton and Hove at home STI Testing Service

Brighton and Hove’s STI (sexually transmitted infection) home testing service is free and confidential. We offer test kits you can order online and do at home to check for chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis & HIV

Who can order a free home testing kit?

We can only post home test kits to BN1/BN2/BN3 and BN41 postcodes, if you don’t live in one of these areas please click here

If any of the following apply, you can still test, but before you do, please call us on 01273 523 388. Our staff are here to help and will discuss your needs on the phone. All calls are confidential.

When should I test?

STIs take different amounts of time to show up on a test. This means if you test too early an infection might not be detected. This is called the window period for the test. If you are testing because of a recent risk of infection please think about the the window periods for STI tests.
If you are testing for HIV and the risk of transmission was in the last 72hrs you may be able to access PEP.

If someone you have had sex with recently has told you they have an STI please see our guidance before ordering your test.

It’s important that we receive your samples as soon as possible. Try to do the test on a day you can post it and it will be collected the same day.

Previous syphilis infection

Our home test kits can’t tell the difference between new and treated syphilis infections. If you’ve had syphilis previously we will contact you to discuss this as you will need to attend clinic for the test. You can still do all your other tests (chlamydia, gonorrhoea, HIV) at home as usual.

Can I use this service if I’m HIV positive?

All of our home testing kits include a blood test for HIV.  If we know you are HIV positive we will not perform this test as it will always come back with a positive result. You can still do all your other tests (chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis) at home as usual
