What is HIV?

You can get HIV from having sex without condoms.

Who is PrEP for?
PrEP is for people who want to protect themselves from getting HIV.
This may be people who don’t use a condom every time they have sex.

Where can you get PrEP?
You can get PrEP for free from a Nurse or Doctor at a Sexual Health clinic.

How do you take PrEP?
PrEP is a tablet you take every day.
It is important to take the PrEP tablet when and how the doctor tells you, even if you feel OK.
If taken correctly, PrEP is nearly 100% effective in stopping HIV.

Side effects from PrEP
PrEP can sometimes have side effects like feeling sick or tired, but these usually go away on their own.
You can talk to your Doctor or Nurse about side effects.

Remember
PrEP does not protect against other infections like chlamydia, gonorrhoea or syphilis.
It’s important to use condoms too.

Any questions?
