Dr. Suneeta Soni is a Consultant in Sexual Health and HIV Medicine at the Lawson Unit. She also holds an academic position as a Senior Lecturer at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, where she is actively involved in teaching and mentoring medical students.
Dr. Soni’s clinical expertise lies in the management of bacterial sexually transmitted infections (STIs), with a particular focus on tackling antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in infections such as mycoplasma genitalium and gonorrhoea. She is co-Chair of the Bacterial Special Interest Group for the British Association for Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH), playing a key role in shaping national guidelines.
She has a special interest in STI diagnostics and improving the management of STIs through the integration of diagnostic advancements into clinical practice. She is also passionate about women’s health and sexual wellbeing, and runs a successful bimonthly vulva clinic with colleagues in dermatology and pyschosexual therapy. Dr. Soni frequently presents at major conferences, and contributes to ongoing efforts in prioritising sexual health on the political agenda.
