Professor Daniel Richardson

Consultant in Sexual Health & HIV Medicine

Daniel is a consultant in Sexual Health and HIV Medicine in Brighton and honorary professor at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, with over 18 years of experience in HIV prevention and sexual health. Daniel specialises in the sexual health of men who have sex with men (MSM) and is an expert in sexually transmitted enteric infections. His work has been instrumental in expanding pre exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) access throughout Brighton, ensuring that individuals at high risk for HIV have timely and equitable access to prevention tools.

In addition to his clinical leadership, Daniel is a key figure in public health research on sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including studies on drug-resistant STIs and enteric infections (e.g. shigella), and chemsex harm reduction. His research has helped shape national HIV prevention strategies, and he continues to contribute to the British Association for Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH), where he has chaired multiple committees, including the Sexually Transmitted Enteric Infections Guidelines Group.
