If you need to be seen urgently
If you need PEP, have been sexually assaulted, are under 16 or are an Abbey Road patient, please let reception know so that we can fast-track you, if possible, to avoid waiting times.
What to expect at a walk in appointment
Walk in appointments are a way for you to come and see us without booking an appointment in advance and are an option for patients who need to be seen urgently or who don’t know their availability ahead of time.
Please be aware that we can’t guarantee that we will be able to see you for a walk in appointment when you arrive.
If we’re already busy you may be asked to come back later in the day to be seen. There may also still be a short wait to be seen when you return, and a walk in appointment can mean a longer waiting time than if you attend for a booked appointment.
We recommend coming earlier in the day where possible, as we can often run out of appointment slots towards the end of our opening hours. We may ask you to return on another day if you do not need urgent care or treatment. We will suggest alternative options available to you if we can’t see you that day.
Where and when are walk in appointments available?
The main place to go to a walk in appointment is at SHAC Central.
We are unable to routinely offer implant or IUD fittings, cervical screenings or cryotherapy at walk in appointments.
The service is available on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 10.15am and 5pm (closed for lunch between 1 and 2pm).
SHAC West (Under 25s only)
If you don’t have symptoms we also offer walk in appointments for under 25s at SHAC West in Hove on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The service is available from 3pm-5.30pm on these days. If you arrive and we are unable to see you, we will suggest alternative options.
We are unable to see patients with symptoms or fit an IUD (coil) at SHAC West.
Saturday walk in appointments
We offer a limited number of walk in appointments at our Saturday Clinic. The clinic is open from 10am-1pm.
This can be a very busy clinic and we recommend attending early for a walk in appointment.
