Colin Fitzpatrick is an experienced HIV Clinical Nurse Specialist at the Lawson Unit, part of Brighton’s Sexual Health and Contraceptive Service (SHAC). Since joining the team in 2013, Colin has played a crucial role in providing high-quality, patient-centered care for individuals living with HIV. His expertise spans the entire HIV care pathway, from diagnosis to long-term management, ensuring that patients receive the most effective treatment options tailored to their needs.
Colin is passionate about leveraging digital technology to enhance healthcare delivery. His research interests include evaluating how digital platforms can streamline care and improve patient outcomes. Colin completed a Master’s in Research (MRes), which focused on advancing digital healthcare tools, helping improve the coordination and accessibility of HIV care.
In addition, Colin has been a key advocate for the named nurse model, where patients are assigned a dedicated nurse for consistent care during the first year of their HIV diagnosis. His research into the impact of this model on patient outcomes has helped shape service improvements at the Lawson Unit and beyond, improving both patient satisfaction and health outcomes.
