Louise Trewhella is a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Contraception at the Brighton Sexual Health and Contraceptive Service (SHAC). With extensive experience in contraceptive care, Louise plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered services to individuals seeking contraception support and advice. Her expertise includes providing contraceptive counselling and advice, ensuring that patients have access to a wide range of contraceptive options that best suit their individual needs.
Louise is a registered trainer with the faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare and a key part of her role is to deliver contraception training to nurses and doctors in Brighton and Hove thus extending the number of health care professional able to provide contraception across the city. This includes training doctors and nurses to achieve their Letters of Competence in the insertion and removal of contraceptive coils and implants and also assessing trainees who are completing their diploma in Sexual and Reproductive healthcare.
Louise is passionate about improving access to contraceptive services, and works to ensure that patients feel supported, informed, and empowered in making decisions about their reproductive health. She is also actively involved in sexual health education, promoting awareness about contraceptive options and advocating for inclusive, compassionate care.
