Getting tested if you’ve been in contact with an infection
If you know when you had sex with the person concerned or the person is your regular partner, you may not need to wait for test results before starting treatment.
If you have been notified anonymously or are not sure about when the sex happened, we will discuss window periods and treatment timeframes with you.
If you have been in contact with a sexually transmitted infection (STI) we recommend not having sex until you have either completed treatment or have tested negative after a suitable length of time.
