PEP (Post Exposure Prophylaxis) is a 4 week course of pills that is started after someone has been exposed to HIV, to prevent infection. It’s sometimes called PEPSE.
PEP must be started within 72 hours but the sooner the better, ideally within 24 hours.
Accident and Emergency departments can start PEP if our clinic is closed.
